Those moccasins are incredible. They should be in a museum.

I was lucky enough to sit right next to Dusty at the dinner table way back when he was first drafted. It was a Club 80 function at the Swan Hotel.

He wasn’t the talkative type. But he did ask if he wanted to take my plate after we ate. I politely said no and took his instead.

No items to declare but was in Melbourne some years ago (would have been pre-17) and my wife came running back to our flat, wild-eyed, "Ijust saw Dustycomingoutofthebuildingnextdoorandomghemoveslikeabigcatomg" Thought she was having a stroke. Turns out Ralph Carr's office was in the building next door to us.

There was a gif when Dusty was just starting out. (Dusty might have been 10 or 11 years old :giggle:) where he tossed Heppell aside like a well chewed chop bone,

Just my avatar.
Dusty to the media as he walks off the ground a winner on Saturday.

This story might seem off beat, but to me it ancapsulates his mystique and charisma that goes beyond footy. 2019 I was in Melbourne for the finals. A musician friend had a gig at a pub in north Fitzroy, the empress i think. I was wearing tigers gear most of the time but didn't that night, was heading out and thought I've got to wear something tigers, so I stuck on my dusty badge. Got to gig, hipster city, my mate introduced be to a heap of people. One young hipster woman says to me ' what's that?" In a derisive tone. Dusty. I said. 'Pfft' she said. Are you into footy?" Yes I said, tigers specifically. 'Pfft' she said and walked off. Watched the gig. She comes up to me later, a few drinks under the belt. Says ' guess what I did today?" Dunno. I said. "I did a photoshoot with dusty! Omg he is SOoo amazing" she was a fashion photographer. ha ha. We had a great old chat. I gave her a dusty primer and she was riveted.

Did you keep it?

The day we after drafted Dusty, called the Club to organise my player Sponsorship. Back when I was single and had full control of my wallet.
"Has Dustin Martin got a Sponsor yet?
"No, we've only just opened up"
"OK, I'll be his first then."
"Yes."

I met him at the Player Sponsor Dinner. He was on one side of me, Newman on my right. I barely got a word out of Dusty, but I remember him shaking my hand and almost breaking it. Thought he'd find picking the pill up quite easy.
Newy talked my ears off. He said not to take offence about Dusty being so quiet. Apparently he was like that for a while when he first arrived.

The picture of the two of us is in my office. A tattoo-less Dusty And a no grey-haired thinner version of me. Right next to the Mark Knight cartoon of the Tiger hugging Dimma after he said he was quitting.

My favourite Dusty story, the 20 GF. Him kicking that goal after beating a series of Cats players....I jumped up and screamed, waking the kids and scaring the bejesus out of them...then almost blacking out from lack of oxygen to my brain...Dusty has that affect.
