Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
Hardwick and co. have completely dug out Wallace's list.

1.. The leftovers from the Wallace list are pretty good

- Deledio riewoldt edwards Rance cotchin vickery

2...They brought in support

Maric chaplin grigg Houli hunt Thomas morris hampson gordon Lloyd

3... And have drafted the future

Grimes Astbury Castagna
Batch Elton B Ellis
Lennon Vlastuin Mcintosh
Martin Mcbean C Ellis
Griffiths McKenzie lambert
Soldo conca Miles
Menadue Dea Drummond butler Short
---------------------------------

That's our youngest 22
Some are now regularly playing AFL and performing well; some are still in development.

We've had 4 players retire and 2 delisted so we now have room for 5 draftees and a rookie.
We can't really cut any more.

That group of ten are aged between 26 -30 next season; some are contracted; some are playing AFL every week.

Cutting the whole lot would not hurt the list.
Except that can't do it because we are already 5 down (and a rookie).

We need to shop around the whole lot and work them into deals.

Maric 30 - If we bring in a ruck, get Ivan on the table. Or else we keep him.
Contracted.

Chaplin - 30. He's keeping out Astbury. Could replace Lake at the Hawks for a 2nd rounder.
Contracted.

Thomas - 29 - a rookie, hardly gets a game. An honest insurance player.
He may as well stay a rookie, or else delist.
Not contracted.

Grigg - 28 - pretty good runner and user. He would have trade currency.
Not contracted.

Hampson -28. ruckman. Hardly gets a game. HOTA are good so he might be of interest.
Contracted

Houli - 28. Small skilled runner. He'd be great at GWS. Pack him in the Trealoar deal with Hampson.
contracted

Morris - 28. Utility. Goes hard. Trade sweetener.
Contracted.

Gordon Lloyd Hunt. Aged 26. They might be be more value to us than what we'd get. Low priority.
Keep them if we can't use as trade leverage.

Good luck with shopping around our Dad's Army

Maric 30 - Contracted, only a team needing back up for final tilt would want him - North only but pay nothing

Chaplin - 30. Contracted. Keeping out Astbury?. Think He's doing that all on his own. Hawks have their own version. If Leppa likes, find a way.

Thomas - 29 - Not contracted - a rookie, hardly gets a game. Thank goodness for that. He may as well stay a rookie, or else delist, or delist or delist. Three choices.

Grigg - 28 - Not contracted. Had a great year, ordinary final. pretty good runner and user. He would have trade currency. Yep, but really only this year.

Hampson -28. Contracted - unbelievable really. Ruckman for the want of a better term. Hardly gets a game for good reason. HOTA are good so he might be of interest. Nuthin!

Houli - 28. Contracted - Small skilled runner. He'd be great at GWS. Pack him in the Trealoar deal with Hampson (nup Hampson reduces the value of the trade to them). Houli is Shaw minus.

Morris - 28. Contracted. Utility. Goes hard - waves arms well. make a great goal umpire. Trade sweetener to the Umpires association.

Gordon Lloyd Hunt. Aged 26. They might be more value to us than what we'd get. Low priority. Find a Club who needs a small forward - oh hang on...........
Keep them if we can't use as trade leverage.

Now that's thinking outside the square. Can we finally start a trend? Trading arm wavers to the AFL.

Wasn't sure if DDT was serious with those options. Almost no trade currency in those named, maybe Houli & Grigg.

Carlisle would be great for us, bombers will want too much unfortunately. I'm not too impressed by Elton or Astbury at this stage, but we definitely need another KD to replace Chaplin, can't have a KD that is a liability one out.

I'm extremely serious.
To be real contenders we need to upgrade as many of those 10 as we can.
They need to be all on the table and no serious offer refused.

Carlisle can mark but can't kick reliably.
Last season he kept us in the game

Of course we need to upgrade but you surely don't think Maric, Morris, Gordon, Hunt, Hampson and Chaplin have trade currency?

Carlisle is a gun FB that against all sense the bombers tried turning into a forward. He would be perfect for us but will likely cost too much.

How much is too much

To improve we need to trade and if that's the case we need to be aggressive and pay what the market demands If not it will be an early exit week one of finals at best

Carlisle is a wonderful mark. He might miskick it to the opposition wingman though so let's hope he marks it again.

Just get him to handball to Houli or vlastuin

Easy

As FB he has AA qualities. Much better at the same age than say Hooker who is an AA defender. we don't need him to play as a forward. Would slot in perfectly. Moot really, will cost too much.

Ok I'll say what everyone would love to happen. Let's offer all of Maric, Morris, Gordon, Hunt, Hampson and Chaplin for Carlisle. At the very least it would be very funny to see us offering.

It's not a moot point, as Chaplin is a hack
Hmmm, interesting post, please tell us more about Your thoughts on Chaplin......

Agree. Our picks will be used to upgrade other areas.

Just as well the Wallace years left us that legacy at least. I wonder how many of our other players will end up as good as the above mentioned. Some are built up that way but imo have nowhere achieved it yet. Most of the above were standouts very early in their careers.

For me the prioritys should be a Quality Ruck, weather that's a super tap ruck who can compete in the hit outs with Top shelf rucks (Smith)or a competitive Ruck who also ads grunt when the balls on the ground(Kreuzer)

Speed, football smarts an skill out of the back half ( Yarran , Bennell)

Goal kicking small who ads defensive pressure (?)

Big bodied contested ball winner. ( Redden?)

Young key defenders ( draft, Plowman)
