I saw Daniel listed in the best for Coburg reserves last week so I looked up his details on the RFC site.

It's a bit of a disappointment his profile hasn't been filled in yet other than to say

Selected with the Tigers' third pick, No. 62 overall, in last year's National AFL Draft, the former Calder Cannon is a medium-sized runner who is equally at home in attack or defence, as he showed when he represented Victoria Metro at the 2002 National AFL Under-18 Championships. Attacks the ball hard and is solid overhead.

I think he's 17 (18?) and doing VCE? Can anyone tell me his height and build etc?

Is there a reason he hasn't been playing for Coburg, ie injury etc or maybe just not up to it? I doubt school commitments would be a reason seeing kids have played AFL while at school.

Would appreciate any info, especially from anyone who's watched Daniel play.

At the moment I am a very ill informed VP of the DS fanclub.

Born: 26/8/84
Height: 187cm
Weight: 80 kilos
From: Woodend/Calder U18

Then it just has what you posted from the rfc site.

I'm wondering why he is taking a place on the list,
rather than as a rookie, and is only playing for Coburg's reserves...? If there's a list spot there to be
filled, why not fill it with someone who is more likely to actually play for Richmond?

Damo would probably be able to fill us all in on these
strange things.

Anyhow, from the Dec 2002 FTB..

Daniel Sipthorp 18, 187cm, 80kg

From: Calder Cannons

Richmond's No. 4 pick (No. 62 overall) in
the National Draft.

'Daniel Sipthorp had a terrific season this year with
Calder Cannons. He's a Woodend boy who represented
Vic Metro and played really well in the Nationals.
He played up forward, took some strong marks and
kicked goals. He's a bit of a utility type - 187cm and
really hard at it. 'Rowdy's going to be a real stop-gap
in time where he can mark it up forward and kick goals
or go down back and mark it in the last line of defence.
He adds a bit of hardness as well. After his finals series
this year (with Calder Cannons) we just thought he was
going to be a good late pick and we felt a bit lucky to
see him still there when our fourth pick came around
on draft day. We think he's a youngster who could
develop into a pretty decent player down the track.'

I received an e-mail about Danny commenting on him from a personal level rather than a footballing one.

The person thought Danny was pretty unhappy at what's going on. Noone at the club has really let him know how he's going.

Apparently he's put blond tips in his hair so might stand out a bit now. ;D

I must point out these are someone's personal thoughts and may or may not be factual.

I'd think Danny would have a far better chance of improving if he was in the senior Coburg team.

If he hasn't been injured it's a bit of a mystery. After all he is taking up a spot on our list so I hope he's being given every chance to show what he's got.

The last kid Richmond drafted based on a good finals series in the u18 was Lional Proctor.

It doesn't look good for the kid if he can't crack it for a game with Coburg seniors.

More evidence that Beck merely watches a few finals games and bases his decisions on this.

Two words

Sipthorpe = Hack.

I watched him play reserves yesterday, and he was very ordinary. Don't ever believe what you read as to who were Coburgs best players because they are never true.

He appears lazy and wont put his head over the ball.

Sipthorp will not make it AFL level because he has ordinardy skills.

I have watched him 5 times this year, I'm not impressed.

on Sipthorp, he has been playing for Coburg reserves simply through form, and with him still doing VCE i dont think the club had high hopes for him this year. Having said that, someone from the club should be giving him some feedback to help him improve his footy and get back into the senior coburg team. (it's not tips either rosy, complete blonde)

Amen to that. I read three or four different versions
of who was in the 'best' and rarely do they
match up amonst themselves and nor do they match up
with what me and my non-boozy mates think. (With
our single ended view of the games).

When a young bloke resorts to the blonding of the
hair to get noticed, you just know it'll take him at least
a year to maybe come good. ;D Look at the history -
most of those who stuff with their hair seem to go
through a really bad patch - a bad hair patch ;D

Agree about the form, only seen 4 or so reserves
games this year... didn't really notice him much 'cept
for the Blonde hair yesterday.

By the way, the reserves got ABSOLUTELY Thrashed
yesterday... can't wait until they play Springvale
reserves - at least they are more crap than yesterdays
efforts :)

Perhaps the club don't expect much from him this year..

Of course, that begs the question - Why is he on the
'list' instead of the 'rookie list'?

I noticed that Kelvin Moore didn't play yesterday, but
was there anyway ..

C'mon losing by 127 points is not that bad :rollin
I arrived during the last quarter and we didn't kick a goal while I was there. I did however want to smack the women behind me who kept yelling go bullants every 2 minutes ;D

That's the great thing about VFL (VFA if Lucky Phil
gets his way) footy... you can easily just move to
a more 'friendly' supporter area.

Did anyone check the dunnies? I'm told the gents
doesn't have 'doors' at the moment, but as I've
never had to investigate that thus far, I'm not
overly concerned.

Geez, I should go back to work. ;D
