Looks a good mark overhead and a reasonable kick, whats the knock on him?

Currently lacks a bit of an offensive side in the sense that when his team has the ball he will still man-up on his opponent etc.

Putting aside whether he is good or bad or neither; he is mostly a small defender with a knack of playing a bit taller than he looks. I would have thought we have quite a few guys of that type that we need to work through now. Be a suprise if we added another.

The thing IMO that sets him apart from a few others is his elite speed/defensive skills. He's 187cm IIRC. So I guess he'd be recruited to take the Betts/Milne types that slaughter us on an annual or bi-annual (if they're lucky enough) basis.

I'd say he was 182-184cm unless he has shot up. No problem taking him. But you'd guess that Morris, Dea, Ellis (?) all have to be tried first. That is before Houli, Newman and Batchelor playing small. Maybe Connors. Maybe Arnott. Probably already got 8 blokes for two spots even before you try and convert a midfielder like Helbig or try Conca across there again. And as Leon Davis has found to his cost it is hardly the key role to recruit for - I mean you play Cotchin in the back pocket and he is an All-Australian it is just that very very few teams get that sort of luxury.

That's pretty much it isn't it. Not many blokes get drafted as a back pocket. Question is, would it be easier to select a guy who is a genuine back pocket who can kick as well or do you try turn an existing player such as a midfielder into a back pocket.

Id rather Conca and Helbig play midfield and IMO Houli and Newman are better rebounders than defenders while im not sure Batch or Ellis have a huge amount of pace and are probably better rebounders than lock down. Which leaves Dea and Morris.

If (potentitally) we had Morris, Dea and Garside on the list could some play a different role maybe as a run with player or Morris as a defensive forward. Also, have to take into account not everyone makes it.

IMO he displays some of the traits that we were looking at Docherty for... Great judgement, good speed and a long accurate kick*.

*all ascertained from nearly 8 minutes of highlights ;D

No left foot. He would always run around onto his right, I would like to have seen him kick on his left.

Given that 5 minutes is the starting point, lock him in now :rofl
