Wouldn't have Taranto anywhere near the votes. Thought his disposal in the 3rd quarter cost us significantly. Has to be better than that. Balta best for mine, just in front of Hopper. Pickett continues to be under rated by all!

His disposal is a bit of a knock, he did have 7 clearances and 8 tackles though, they're good numbers.

Based on the pressers we can be certain that Dimma gave Hooper 5 and confident that he gave Nank 2.

And Nicks was banging on about intercepts so Balta gets his 5.

FWIW I reckon Dimma thought we hustled Laird out of it for three quarters so Taranto will be getting his 4.

He looked out of gas at times in the 2nd half, no doubt affected his disposal.
Hoping it improves as the whole team gels further

Speaking of coaches votes Will Gould for Sydney received 4 coaches votes.

Trouble was Gould didn't play!

I read that Longmire doesn’t even give the coaches votes, a staffer does it!

Here's my take on the options-

1684207090248.png

My thinking is that Hardwick spoke for twenty minutes about how good Broad was in his presser. And that not even he could give his lovechild Short 5 after that. Furthermore Atkins shaded Short in the numbers and might have been considered to have shaded him on the day.

This brings up the unlikely scenario that Salty excluded a Geelong player form the votes. But Salty may have spat it with some aspects of Atkins's game (not enough defence) and got a vote slap from the coach. Salty can be bitter at times.

On the second scenario,Hardwick could reasonably bang on about Broad for twenty minutes in his presser but still give Martin the 5. I'm coming around to the idea that Hardwick's votes are almost as likely to be the second scenario.

On the third scenario, I think it's out of the question that Hardwick gave Short the 5, or he'd have missed the presser to get to McDoanlds for Jayden's hard-earned happy meal.

I’d say Scott couldn’t bring himself to acknowledge how good Dusty was.

Hardwick

5 Dusty
4 broady
3 Rioli
2 Short
1 Baker

Captain Salty

5 Short
4 Broad
3 Atkins
2 Rioli
1 Martin

Doubtless that other variations exist but this one suits my narrative best. So I’m going with it. And I can’t be bothered figuring the other possibilities out!
