My mate is annoying me about the Clokes,
I know we got Cogs instead of Jason, but who did we get instead of Travis and Cameron?

Relief.

Well TigeRICHO,

If we selected Travis Cloke under the father/son rule we would have missed out on Luke McGuane, who is currently showing promise in the Magoos (from what I read on this site)... Look at the Coburg forum for his form. He has also been injured (broken arm (?).

Instead of Cameron Cloke we picked up Tim Fleming.... Nothing to see here let's move on....

The fact is we were never going to get any of the Clampett's. Julie hates Richmond and won't let any of her boys play for the club.

Doolz...from memory Jason Cloke was drafted to Collingwood in 2000...he spent a year in the reserves and then played senior footy in 2002. Richmond selected Mark Coughlan...as we all know.
In 2002, Collingwood drafted Cameron Cloke...and we selected Justin Blumfield.

Seeing as all the clokes qualified for father/son at both clubs, wasn't it up to the clokes themselves to decide which club THEY wanted to go to?
My understanding is we decided to pick up Cogs with the pick that would have got jason cloke. Not a mistake in any Tiger supporters eyes. After that, cloke snr wanted all the boys to play together. Their decision. We may have lucked out with travis but we would have had the whole clan here and no Cogs. I'm happy with the decision at the moment!

Dont start me on the Clokes......
David Cloke may have been of some service to the club.but he is in no way the same league as the Bartletts,Bourkes,Harts,etc...
And my mail is that hes a bit of a knowall...
So,he played league footy...that doesnt make him bigger than the game...
the only reason he bagged 6 in the 1980 granny waz because the Pies were manning up and double teaming Roachy....
And what about his carry=on when travis got canned from the granny against the liars ?It was a blatant knock to the face which drew blood...its a wonder he didnt get 2 or 3....
And finally..how about this year when he inferred to mickey m that if one of the boys got dropped, hed consider other options for the boys....you gotta be kidding,Believe you me,we DONT WANT THE CLOKES EVER......
Humility, team spirit and a wilingness to LEARN and SUCCEED is not their strength. :mad:The same goes for Campbell Brown....try hards..... :help

Hey Nitro, I think it was Jason who missed a granny- not that the filth would have missed him as he is very average

While talking to an old friend at the Starry Starry Night Ball, Julie Cloke came up and introduced herself to us.

I must admit that I'd heard many Julie Cloke stories, but upon speaking with her I found a very warm and amiable lady. Julie was very friendly to all around us. Clearly loves her family very dearly, and also says that she has always been a lifelong Tiger supporter. Some of you may also remember her brother the umpire, Peter Cameron, I think. (I've been confusing first names recently.) Her husband, David, and her sons, whom I spoke to also, were equally as warm & kind.

I must admit that I've met some other ex-Tigers, who have also been equally as gracious. Kevin Bartlett was also at the Night and was very friendly. (Then there has been another ex-Tiger, another ex-1980 premiership player, an especially tall one from the East Malvern CC, that was just plain rude.)

I was very impressed with young Julie.

Phantom, think I have posted once before that I met the Clokes the day after Jason was drafted by Collingwood. They said Richmond wouldn't give up the 2nd round pick under the Father/Son but told Jason Richmond would definitely select him the 3rd round.

They had been told by a coach (Sheedy) that Jason was almost certain to be selected by (????) before Richmond's 3 rd selection which could result in him going interstate. Collingwood made the Father/Son offer which kept him home in Melbourne.

Neither Julie or David made any disparaging remarks about Richmond's decision - they simply wanted to keep Jason at home and he was happy to go to either Club!

Yes, a lovely family headed by 2 lovely parents.

The whole family may be all nice and fuzzy but we are seriously better off without them at our club.
