I am a bit late posting this given my number of posts but I only just noticed this thread. (I never seem to get off Tiger Talk.) I thought I'd introduce myself anyway.

I've been a Richmond member since 1967 (good year to join) when my Tiger mad father first took his 6 yo son to a game at the "G". I moved to Sydney with work in 1998 (hence my name, first used in a Dream Team competition) where I was continually stunned at the assumption from many Sin City residents that I would change my support to the Swans. (They just don't get it do they.) I still managed to get down to quite a few games, often with my son who is slowly picking up a love for the Tiges.

Last year work took me further north, to London where I am likely to stay for at least another 2 years. I've been starved of footy but for an "ok" AFL show once a week at obscure times on Sky Sports and a friend who had undertook to send me a tape of the Tiges each week but apparently felt merciful and stopped after about round 14. I now have a weekend ritual whereby I listen to the game on AFL.COM and post on PRE and I'm spending too much ordering dvds of our games.

We live in Kensington and I've managed to get along to several Chelsea games (a well timed new allegiance). As well as work and footy I am a music fan. I play drums and go to as many jazz and rock concerts as I can fit in, the last being Cream at The Royal Albert Hall (a huge buzz).

I've ordered a couple of PRE shirts and will hopefully be able to send some photos of them being worn proudly from some interesting places as we take advantage of the travel opportunities here.

I figured you were a drummer TGN given your avatar (and I agree Steve Gadd is a god!!). It seems there are a few muso's on PRE so maybe a PRE band is in the making?? 8)

Why not? What do you play?

Maybe we should be part of the pre-game GF entertainment. I'll set my drums up on Angry's old Batmobile.

Welcome to PRE TGFFFNTHEE....a belated welcome to PRE. :) Look forward to seeing pics of the PRE t's in far away exotic locations.

I can't sing and I'm not overly musical, more a listener than player, so I bags being the PREband groupie. ;D

Well we might be in luck as I do sing and its always been my dream to take centre stage at the Grand Final and belt out our National Anthem (Oh we're from Tigerland..). 8) Why don't we open with that and then break into some Oils or Chilli Peppers? (I'm learning drums TGN but have a looooong way to go).

You've got the gig Rosy!! ;D ;D

Hope you're enjoying London TGN . I was there in Soho from Jan-Apr this year and despite the weather loved it. Went to Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express etc.Got the train to Paree. Saw Gadd playing with Paul Simon at VFL park in 1980 (along with Richard Tee). Still remember it.

Cheers

I'm havong a great time, I love London. And I've lost track how often I've gone to Ronnie Scott's, I love it there!

I saw Gadd at the Tennis Centre (with Paul Simon too) early 90'S I think. He's just a great player.

Do you play drums BDR?

We will be in London in October

I'll take my PRE Tee, maybe we could have a pint and a photo shoot?

There may be another PREnder there at the same time too

TGN I hope your house is big enough to accommodate all the PREnders heading your way?!! :hihi

I'm planning to be at Ronnie Scotts in November for Steve Smith and Vital Information. 8)

Keyboard player/composer. Remembered that I also saw Gadd playing with Chick Corea at the Palais about 1977 doing the 'Mad Hatter' album...he was incredible. I like how Gadd talks about how playing in a great rhythm section is almost a religious experience...IMO that's what the Yanks are so much better than us at..playing as a group rather than individually(of course he was often working with Eric Gale, Richard Tee etc, such wonderful groove players). Kind of like our backline at the moment... :)

Sure! Let me know what you're up to. A shot of a few PRE shirts in front of the Tower Bridge sounds like a good idea.

(Who said anything about my house Crystal?? )

Interesting view about the Yanks being better at groups BDR! I confess that hadn't occured to me. I wouldn't hold out I've played in a great rhythm section but there's no doubt that there is a certain vibe you get when things are locked in that I've not felt doing anything else. (Even when watching the Tiger backline! That's a whole different sensation!! :hihi )

Gadd played some incredible stuff with Chick Corea. I wish I'd seen that concert! Have a listen to him on Corea's Nite Sprite (off Leprechaun as I recall), he's in top form on that one. Did you ever hear anything of Gadd's band Stuff? Some sweet grooves; featured Tee and Gale as well. I had it on vinyl but haven't seen any on cd.

What sort of music work do you do?

I have a 'Best of Stuff' CD . also a 'Gadd gang' somewhere. I used to do a fair bit of gigging but now I spend more time at home in front of the Mac composing/arranging (film/Tv, nothing particularly well known). One computer monitor open to PRE, one open to my sequencer....

BTW if you like Indian...Masala Zone in Soho...excellent.

Well you are the first person I have met who has even heard of Stuff let alone own an album!

I like your duel computer strategy. Presumably you have the footy on the tv as well!

Thanks for the Indian tip, I might nick in there before my next visit to Ronnie Scotts.

Kensington hey??
Theres a Bar/Cafe down the Olympia End of Ken High St (near the MG/Rover Dealership) called Henrys, its across the road and up from Harvey Floorbangers.
I was one of six who opened and managed the store from scratch during the mid-nineties.
I had an RFC sticker affixed to the massive mirror behind the bar, which had sadly been removed at the time of my last visit (2002).
I like your choice of area,Kensington and Holland Park were very nice, but waaay to costly for this black duck.
I lived in Hammersmith,Shepherds Bush and Maida Vale over a 3 year period.
Can't say I like your soccer side($$$$$$$$$$),the Collingwood of the EPL.I follow the other side in West London, Fulham, love its ground and the walk through Bishops park to get there.
Fulham and the music scene are the things I miss most about London.

Nice one. I might sneak down and try and put a sticker back up on that mirror.

It's a nice area but you're right it is very exxy. It's a bit busier than we'd like for our kids but we figured if we are going to be in London for a few years we may as well be IN London. It's close to everything and a couple of good parks to launch the odd torp.

Maida Vale. Is that the one near the canal?

On the soccer, I used to support Liverpool (and still do to some degree) but only ever did from afar before. When we arrived here I got some tickets to a Chelsea v. Charlton game with a guy who is a mate of Frank Lampard. SO my first live Premier League experience was a Chelsea win and we met Lampard (got photos and everything), Gudjohnson, and Terry in the rooms afterwards. Given we can walk to Stamford Bridge from here I just ended up following them. (And I resent them being called the Collingwood of the EPL!! Them's fighting words!) The power in the Premier League is so concentrated on the clubs who were entrenched when the league came in I don't think a side can sustainably challenge Man U and Arsenal without big bucks. It's not a league for romance and doesn't really compare to the more socialist AFL.

What part of the music scene did you get into?

I see the Yellowjackets are going to be at Ronnie Scotts in Nov...must see. Russell Ferrante is one of my fave piano players and completely underrated.

Yeah that's right. I'm definitely going too.

They were at Ronnie's last year too but I missed them.

The following week Vital Information is on there. Ever heard of them? Tom Coster on keys. I saw them last year at Ronnie's and had a chat to Tom. Great guy!!

Do you get there often bdr?
