I have been so impressed with Nathan Brown's start to his career at Richmond that i beleive he should be appointed captain of the club next season. He has been a great leader already for the club both on and off the field.

With some of the younger kids coming on now they would all look to him for leadership and respect his status as a genuine AFL star. I think this would an obvious and positive move for the club.

You are joking!!!
A bloke that has facials and his feet pedicured to wear Number 17!
I think not.
If that ever happens RFC might as well move headquarters to Oxford St, in Sydney!!!

LOl Diggler. I'm tipping the Wayner isn't adverse to the odd facial himself.

Brown is a gem but not captain material.Best just leave him to weave his magic.

Unfortunatley theres a bit of a lack of obvious future captains at the moment.Campbell will probably play next year so should remain captain.by 2006 hopefully there will be some new candidates.Possibly from someone like Cogs or Newman.

Digs

I couldnt give a rats if he croos dresses, he is easily the best player at Richmond and should be judged by what he does on the field and around the club and he is so far in frontof the rest of the pack it's ridiculous. Here are some of the reasons why:

He hates losing you can see it, the way he ripped into the huddle at 1/4 time against Geelong for our insipid play when all our other so called leaders was mute showed it.

From all reports he is the hardest worker around the club on skilss they have seen in years putting in hours extra on his hand and foot skills. If only all the others could do that.

Is a genuine class act as an AFL player can get a lot of the ball puts his body on the line and has some of the best skills in the game.

Is capable of the insipirational with the things he creates either kicking goals or setting them up.

Off the field he has done everything right in regards to club responsibilities, as opposed to his personal life (which you raised digs). He can speak well and is honest in his opinions, something refreshing around the club.

He had a lot to prove this season due to the controversial way he left the doggies and looked around for another club. he put himself on the line and back his ability to play. He has backed that up with his performances on thefield when there has been chaos all around him.

He is still young and has plenty of football left in him. With such a young list and one that will be probably younger next year, he is an ideal candidate.

Finally he is the best player on our list by so far it's ridiculous. he could do for our club what James Hird is currently doing at Essendon. He can have as many facials as likes just keep doing what he is doing.

Totally agree Brownie for Captain in 2005. All Class and can win the game off his boot.

I was joking of course.
I still wouldnt make an ex bulldog captain. Only reason.

7 games (good or not) at this stage in his playing career with Richmond does not a Captain make.

spot on here tiggy. Like it or not it would cause too much conjecture amonst players and staff who have been loyal longterm servants at the club plus its way way too early to be making these sorts of statements about brownie. You dont give out captaincies to players just because they have a good game/flavour of the month/in form etc you have to earn your stripes. eg Cogs at the end of last year...

On that note theres no deserved captain in our team at the moment than our current leader who started out here during the clubs darkest days and has hung tough for many years. I really should have just written this post like this....

Who has given more to this club, Nathan or Wayne?

i think brown is just doing what he is paid to do, play football.
upholding his contract. go brownie

And earning every cent :D

Nathan Brown is a completly different player then what he was at the Bulldogs.

I will be the first to admit when I heard the Tigers were after him I was very sceptical as I saw him as a little over rated show pony who only looked good in a team with a crappy list.

But since coming to Punt Road he really has seemed to mature a bit and no doubt his work rate is 2nd to none and he really does seem to get on really well with all the players.

Id have no complaints if he was made captain as he does have the ability to do something freakish to swing a game our way and really does seem to be able to pump the boys up and has their respect.

Campbell has said at the beginning of the year that he would stand down as captain within the next couple f years if he thought there was someone else more suited to the job.

Incidently the Wayner player pretty well in the backline again today.Marshalled the troops a number of times. Was very cognisant of not allowing spaces for Barry Hall to lead into.Even though he allowed his opponent O'keefe alot of pill they were often possesions out on the wing.

Good captains game.

I dont think Brown will be Richmonds Captain in 2005.

While I agree he has been fantastic at the club, I think either Campbell will go another year or Johnson.

Coughlan is grooming to be the captain one day, but isnt up to it as yet.
