Is it just me or is this the most boring season of footy? I can't think of the last time I watched a really good game. Tiges haven't been good which is prob some of the reason I feel this way., really not enjoying the style of how its played which I think is largely due to the new rules

I've hardly watched any footy other than our games. I used to religiously watch Friday and Saturday night games. CBF'd these days. If the other games are anything like our games, I agree, boring as bat poo. I just thought it was us!

Been pondering this for many weeks too.

Take your pick from any combination of -

Covid & no crowds
Rules (I've hated the stand farce). I can't accept rule changes without having been trialed in VFL, SANFL, WAFL. It's guesswork.
Umpiring - both the overall standard and the different treatment of Richmond
Injuries to key Richmond players and a lack of cohesiveness
MRO/Tribunal and the either lack of consistency or what sometimes looks like blatant favoritism
Media - I stopped watching footy programs a couple of years back and hardly listen to the likes of SEN or 3AW anymore. They all have a vested interest in staying on the right side of Head Office so will rarely call out the AFL over stuff

I'm sure the poor season by the Tigers is a part of it for me but the standard of games has been very hard to watch. I have always watched 4 - 6 games per round (even during Tigers poor seasons). I'd be lucky to watch one or two quarters of other games this year.

Many boring games due to boring game styles and new rules that contributed to the boredom of the game compounded by no crowds.

even before the stand rule, teams like geelong, collingwood and west coast realised that the only way they can beat us is to deny us the ball by playing a kick mark possession game.

geelong beat us once and collingwood broke the world record in chipping the ball around their backline. remember thinking what a boring brand of football these teams play compared to our fast attacking exciting brand.

then the AFL introduce a rule to further encourage this boring style and stifle our exciting style

I havent watched any apart from our games ,

I loved our chaos game style

The chip it around stuff is boring as batshit for me ,

But i am a self admitted sore loser , in 2018 I went mountain biking while the GF was on ,and unintentionally managed to catch most of the last quarter on the radio in the car after my ride, pissed myself laughing :)

Good to see Anna's opening QLD just in time for the finals as Victoria slides back into the abyss.

Yes good points - I think the no crowd just kills any excitement. Atmosphere is dead i feel that translates into the game big time

The lack of crowds definitely doesn't help.

For mine it's the lack of contested footy that's made the game feel very bland. Chip, chip.
Yep. Contested footy is just about dead. I have hopes finals will restore this. We shall wait and see.
