Well it's hard to salvage something out of our performances lately, so i'm forced to think back to a time when the mighty tigers did me really proud.
It got me thinking, what was the best game I have ever been to?
For me it was round 17 against the dogs in 2001. A hell of a match. I was on the edge of my seat all game. We never gave up, not even for a minute, and then the final siren blew and I was damn near tears. The passion, grit and determination we played with made me proud to follow the yellow and black.
So what's been your favourite match?

1973 Preliminary Final against Colliingwood. The Tigers were 43 points down at half time and they bought Royce Hart on at half time(No interchange those days)
I think Royce kicked 3 goals in the third quarter (on one leg might I add)
I think we won by 9 points.
I think Royce replaced Robert Lamb at half time.
If anyone watches Fox -Footy Vault classics, they replayed this about 2 months ago.
it was a GREAT GAME and it tiffified the Richmond Football Club as a POWERHOUSE and a GREAT CLUB. not how it is today !

Game at Football Park against the Crows where there was a massive downpour and we won. A long time ago but i will never forget singing the club song with my mate as it was pissing down with all teh Crows supporters walking out past us adn Steven Trigg 2 rows behind me. Great night that one.

Yeah, easily the second semi in 1995 for me. Some bloke behind me (claimed to a Richmond supporter) was bagging Benny Gale all through the first half. I thought I was going to get into a blue when my wife turned around and said: "How many games did you play *smile*?" As I stood up ready for the moment, I realised he was shorter than Chris Naish with a Robbie Flower physique and figured the wife could probably take him - so I sat down again. When we came home, largely thanks to Benny's second half, this bloke's said nothing. As I said to him after the siren went - we don't need your kind at Richmond, now *smile* off! What a day and what about Knighter!

Yes, second semi for me in 1995. It was probably only my 3rd AFL game I had ever been to, flew over from the apple isle especially. I remember this little Essendon brat sitting behind me with her flag, waving it over my head for most of the first half. Soon had her sitting in her seat permanently, I like to think she was scarred for life, hee hee :p

Hate to put a dampener on your tale there Merv but Benny Gale had an absolute shocker (4 disposals) in that Final against Essendon but it was still a great game.

The 1995 final was the best i have seen in my life, even though i was born just 17 years ago, and havent seen a real lot of classic richmond games. But i have brought the dvd of the game, and now have found a way to watch richmond win 22 weeks in a year, just play it every friday night, or sunday arvo.
This year i thought that the game against hawthorn was a good one, it was good to see determination amongst the side, and well as the song goes
"If we're behind, then never mind,
We'll fight & fight and win!"

Sorry TF, but can't agree. Benny had several crucial tap outs when they were needed most in the second half and used his body like a battering ram. Nowadays, we call 'em one per centers - just don't see many, apart from a few notable exceptions (eg AK and Cogs).

Knights was teriffic in the first half, even watching it over and over, i still get excited by his three goals all on the run. He was the player who pretty much by himself kept richmond in the game during the first half. He shoulda kicked 5 though. Too bad we got flogged the week after by Geelong, would of loved to at least seen richmond play in one end of year grand final.

Just quietly TF, you're not the bloke who was bagging Benny all through the first half are you? ;)

95 semi easily.
Had a great posy front row behind the punt road goals.
Remember every tiger fan moping at half time and thinking it can't just end like this.Well essendon supporters were being essendon supporters. ;D
Knighter nearly played essendon on his own and was the one man who kept our team alive.
Then the second half -woah biggest rush of my life -we were outnumbered but the roars that came when we got those goals to set up the win put a tingle down my spine.
I pogo sticked while singin the song.
Even the drwn essendon game was a cracker.
I remember bummers fans chanting essendon essendon about 15 mins before the game in anticipation of a big mauling of the tiges.Didn't happen -we stuk it up the bastards -bums got the last goal to steal a draw.

The thing that made it extra special for me was that I went with some Bummer supporters who were unbearable for the first half.

But oh the joy when the got up to leave halfway through the last quarter.

He who laughs last laughs loudest as they say.

What I would give to experience that sort of passion again.

yeah, richos girl that game was the best, well 2nd best nothing beats Rich v Ess 95 semi, i was 13 and it was great.

This year would have to be a toss up between rich v haw, 52pts down and we won, cos some stupid women was commentating the game to her 1 year old to whole first half, and bagging our players, but i had the last laugh.

but i also saw a little league match where we won by 34pts, a toss up between them 2 for 2003...

Being only 5 yo in 1980, means i never seena GF win. but 95 2nd SF by a country mile..
I was behind the city end goals and was there with an Essendon mate.. I was drinking heavy during the first half to drown my sorrows, and ws becoming quite surly.
but as we all know that 2nd half!!!!!!!
Knighter was fantastic and did keep us in the game, but IMO it was Scotty turner who really set us up with some genuinely tough and inspiring play..
needless to say i went home the happiest i ever did after a tiger game that night.. but was asleep by 6.30 as i was blind..lol, but i remember it so well,, thank god.
As for the tiger supporters pain.. I moved interstate 2 years ago, and although i still follow the tiges loyaly.. the disappointment isnt as bad when ur 2000K's away from melbourne, all u have here is stupid wimpy lions supporters, and really theyre quite funny.. plus they dont offend me bc theyll always be the bears to me ;)
