Just mentioned that he will be on with Geoffrey Poulter and Finey between 9.10(probably after news and stuff) - 10pm.

Met Barry through work a few years ago and he gave me a footy which he signed. Great bloke.

Was told by Parkin and the selection committee that they thought his knee would only last another 12 mths (he was 28-29 I think) and that they a had a number of players that could fill his position.

Was at Hawthorn monday night to be told that news, went to Tiger training on the Tues night and lined up with the Tigers that weekend - playing the Hawks!!

Said that if he could beat the younger guys who wanted his spot around the Botanical Gardens then he should be allowed to keep playing.

Played until he was 36!

Are you saying he spits when he talks?

He certainly did a few years back. Lets just say you didn't want to be at the front of the huddle when he was addressing you, and the 14/15 year olds fighting for the spots at the back found it all pretty funny.

Didnt realise he played to that age. Amazing that he added an eight year career to the Hawks predictions of lasting only another year.

Good memories of him and Im sure he would have been keen against Parkin coached Carlton sides.

I was really excited when I saw the article in the Sun that he was coming to us as I had seen him play for the Hawks.

Not only a great player and bloke, but a sensational coach at junior/school level.
If memory serves me right Judd's coach at Caulfield Grammar.

Skull

True story on Barry.

During the whole Gaspar/Freo contract standoff at the end of 2001, Barry contacted Tony Jewell and told him that he coached Chris Judd at Caulfield Grammer and he was the best schoolboy footballer he had seen and that Richmond should take the pick 1 on offer from Freo and draft Judd. Of course we didn't listen!!

Had Barry Rowlings coach me quite a few times as a special guest of the real coach and every time he was fantastic. Can't speak highly enough of him.
