I've been watching Newmo very closely this year and I think when Campbo steps aside Newmo would be an excellent choice as captain.

He is articulate, honest, hard working and when he speaks in the media he looks them in the eye.

Chris is a player who leads by example and I imagine he would have great respect amongst the playing group.

I'd be really happy if he was elected to lead the next generation of Tigers into the future.

Couldnt agree with you more Rosy, i think Newmo is a fantastic player and leader. He works hard and doesnt try to been fancy(i.e Bowden).

I think the time is right for him to play the rest of the season in the midfield and really develop him into top onballer. He has good disposal and also great vision.

I agree with you Rosy ;D

Seriously, ive been doing the same, watching Newman, he has always been a favorite of mine, the only concern I had with him was his inability to get the ball enough, but he did it on the weekend and he would make a fantastic leader of men for all the points thats been stated.

Yeah good call Rosy.Must admit I hadnt thought of that.Newman is really growing on me.I hope Danny doesnt use him too much as a tagger in the future I think he could become one of our most creative players. He possibly is captain material although it's a little early to tell.

Johnson actually seems to do a lot of onfired directing, more so than Campbell I've noticed.

Good call Rosy, Newmo continues to impress. His poise and decision making is way beyond his years. I still think Cogga is the future Captain though. Also a good observation by Evo that Jonno does plenty in the on field leadership stakes. He does way more for the team than given credit for.

Can i get a bet on that he is the next tiger captain to lift the cup?

As long as we have a well-spoken, intelligent and serious player, then we will have a true captain. To me, Campbell and especially Gaspar are too quiet and shy to be leaders.

newman played in about 6 or 7 grand finals in a row{and one them all}with narre warren jnrs...also in them sides were brendon fevola and adam mc phee{who was a gun jnr}..so he is used to winning..{would not be to happy lately}..poss future captain?..maybe....i think i would like johnson as next captain...

Newman needs to focus on stringing together a couple of good games like Friday night and even a couple of consistant seasons before he should even be considered for some type of leadership role at the club.

Perhaps St Kilda's model of rotating the captaincy is something Richmond should consider (perhaps without announcing it publicly) We could give the job to someone like Brown or Johnson next year then see what happens.  It is plain for all to see that Richmond lacks leadership and this idea might just help.

Geez I picked the easiest job. All I ever seem to do is agree with everyone else. Onya Chris. He was great on friday night, his second and thrid efforts are fantastic.
Newmo's Proud Pres :D

On what I've seen this year, I though Brent Hartigan would be a good skipper in a few years.
He's got good second efforts, he's hard at the pill, and directs traffic pretty well. He did have his colors lowered a little Friday night, but hopefully he'll learn from that.

I'm a Newman fan but I would have a few infront of him for Capitain.

IMO Cogs should take over as Capitain next year.

If he is too young , which I don't think he is then give it Johnno for a few years first.

Otto would also be ahead of Newman IMO. I have no doubt that in years to come he will be a great player, All Aust etc.

I think Johnson should be the next captain for a couple of seasons. then pass it on to Brown. I think Newman or Coughlan would also make top leaders too.

As much as I rate Newman I dont think he has the captain's attributes. Yes he is solid, yes he is consistent but at the end of the day our next captain MUST be more assertive on a game than Cambo. Newman is a very useful player but he isnt a game-tearer or one that we will look to when the chips are down.

I always thought Richo would be perfect bc he has the ability to take the big marks and win games but his attitude when things dont work would be a detriment to all.

I think Browny has the class and the work-rate to be our next captain. He leads by example and could be the one to work hard at being a stand-out leader.
