Ben Lennon Northern Knights Vic Metro and Nick Bourke Geelong Falcons Vic Country bnoth training at Tigerland as part of AIS program.

Article on Tiger Website.

It is interesting to read that Trent Cotchin and Liam McBean were doing AIS training with us, before we picked them up in the draft. This will give Richmond a chance to look at some draft hopefuls and check out their talent. I hope Ben Lennon and Nick Bourke both do well.

It's always good to see these guys perform in a professional environment, certainly way more beneficial than a 10 minute interview at the combine or relying on coaches appraisals.

Is Ben Lennon related to Bruce Lennon, who played for the Tiges in the early 90s?

I seriously doubt it Phanto Bruce went back to SA when left tigers after 93 i think.
Bruce Lennon would only be early forties. I liked Bruce Lennon as a player at the time, he was looking a likely type reminded me of Merv Keane a bit then went back to Sturt in SA and dominated there lost a year at Tigers after doing his knee when we took him. Remember a few real good games he was shifted onto Daicos and quietened him when pies were touching us up at Vic Park also played some very good games gainst Carlton the Saints,Demons, Dogs and, Sydney in last game of 92 played 28 games in two years after doing his knee in the # 5 another talented type that didn't go on at the RFC at that time.

Remember Rexy Hunt calling him the Beatle heh heh
Was interesting that Ben didn't get drafted was talked up a bit by some at stages last year.

loved Bruce Lennon

Very classy player who used to float accross packs, was a little slight and slow for the Big league

How does this program work? Does it give us any dibs on them or just a good look at them?

I think Addam Maric did too.

And Ty was certainly around the club a lot due to his father's role.

No dibs, each club takes part I believe. The aim of the program is to educate kids early about what is expected in a professional environment.

Addam Maric did the program at the same time as Cotchin. Ben Griffiths also did the program with us at the same time as Jarrad Grant (from the bulldogs).

Cotchin
Maric
Griffiths
McBean

its not a bad strike rate, we obviously take a good look at them whilst they are with us.

That's interesting, because we certainly had a view on Grant's talent but also had doubts about his head.

Interestingly, Vlastuin was a Fagpie supporter and trained with them, but said they didn't give him the time of day.

Re Vlastuin and the Magpies TBH the Pies probably didnt invest that much in him as they knew he wouldnt get to them i guess.

I don't know about that. I reckon they just weren't into his type.

I'm sure they would have invested alot of time into Grundy if he trained with them - and he ended up getting there.

Reading the reports from blokes who know, it sounds like Ben Lennon would be a good investment with our first pick

Anything's possible. Our pick should be the latest that he'd go.

catch 22. If he lasts until our pick then he's a dud who was sliding and would go late 2nd round if it wasn't for us.
