A landmark decision was handed down in Melbourne this morning to allow a
young boy, aged 9 to select his guardian.
Initially, custody of Peter X, who cannot be identified due to his status
as a minor, was given to his aunt amidst claims that his parents beat him.
Peter X objected to this custody placement, stating that his aunt also
beats him. Custody was subsequently granted to Peter X's grandparents.
This was also shortlived. Peter X claimed that his grandparents beat him
more than his parents and aunt.
As a result, Peter X was given the option to decide who he should live
with. The magistrate was satified with Peter X's placement with the
Collingwood Football Club as, the magistrate stated, "the Collingwood
Football Club did not have the capability of beating anyone."
