We won 3 flags, when you win 3 flags all the other teams look at what you did and ask themselves: how do we do that, but better?

The massive pressure, run all day, chaos game plan was great. But it isn't the same now, they added skilled disposals to it and we couldn't suddenly change our playing group to go with the change.

Also, remember we used to put 7 in defence until they brought in the woeful 6-6-6 rule. It wasn't just the ridiculous stand rule which was put in to combat our game plan, but also 6-6-6.

The irony of this is that the chaos crazy game plan we had was really entertaining. In changing the rules they have made the game less entertaining.

More entertaining for Tiger supporters...YES, for others, not so much. :D

Oh no, how could you forget? how could anyone forget gerard banging on and on and on about the "state of the game'. he would whinge and whinge about how the game was becoming unwatchable when we were dominating. he wouldnt directly accuse richmond, but he defintely implied it was richmonds doing. and as soon as we started our decline, and geelong chip chip chipped their way to a boring flag, not a word since about the "state of the game"

i used to think it was bs, that we were the most despised club in the land, but i am absolutely convinced of it now. But they will never admit it, because they will never want to give us the pleasure of knowing that. So they stick to the teams that are "cool and trendy" to hate, like collingwood and carlton and essendon etc etc

They would never want to admit that its actually richmond, but you know what, the flogs dont have to admit it, because you can see it in their squirmy faces when anything positive gets said about us, or you can read it between the lines when they talk about us. Our flags hurt ALOT of people, in the media, at headquarters, and in the outer.

I stayed humble throughout our dynasty, (mainly to not jinx us in any way whatsoever, im superstitious like that) but if we ever get to the top of the mountain again, i will be far from humble, and gerards show on sen will be my first stop. then that korn flogs show
Gerard used to like to pity support us. Us getting good took away one of his toys. I can remember him tipping against us in the 2017 GF, because losing would be ‘Richmondy’, smirked and giggled as he said it, too, the sanctimonious little toad.

The ‘state of the game’ stuff had to come from head office. GW bangs on about it incessantly. Following this groundswell of opinion, AFL acts to fix the problem. Particularly after we roll over the Cats in 17 QF then 19 PF. Shocking would have been fuming. 2020 was the last straw.

Exactly right CTT. Still enjoys himself along with his Cartoon orgasms.

I doubt he’d know what an orgasm was mate. He’d *smile* himself as well.
So many words and verbs I could insert here .

But Wankley aint the hill I'm gonna die (get banned) on ..........................

Excellent summation, that very much is the diff both melb and coll evolved our style with more clinical entries , I’d also add the extended kick out rendered our role player pressure forwards obsolete as it now more easily clears the zone they had less work to do and the focus turned onto their offensive ability or lack of

In 2019 He said after the premiership, its just a case of how many for the Tigers, even after Robbo said we were done. Then again after 2020, he said the same thing, "Its just how many". The guy loved our game. I'm not sure what you were watching, but in terms of Afl 360, he had nothing but praise and admiration for our game style.

I don't like him at all, but during our "time", I'd be watching everyday, as it generally meant listening to glowing references about our players, or Chris Scott complaining through a cats bum lips pout, that we were lucky to beat them during the big games.

the rule changes cost us arguably 1 more flag at least, the list was prob done for by end of 22

i disagree, even yesturday on sen when talking about rivalries, he openly said the tigers and cats playing groups absolutely hated each other. And as a passionate cats supporter, i thought it was obvious he felt the same.

Thats fair enough. I was speaking based on what I saw during our run of winning. I haven't seen any 360 this year. Doesn't suprise me he'd change his mind though.

100% agree with this.
Whateley loves sport. Whateley loves journalism. He loves great sports stories the most. The Tigers dynasty was an awesome story.

There is a story in the local Tassie paper the Advocate today that Tasmania are hoping to appoint their CEO in June with a start date of early next year. That sounds very much like Benny.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I loved the quick surge forward game we were playing, it was great football.

DS
I think we have a mis-understanding here David. I was trying to say that I agree the quick surge forward game was great football to watch, but only for Tiger supporters, not for opposition supporters. They would be more interested in how their own team was performing unless some impartial observers were just watching a good illustration of how good our game can look. I probably thought your comment was a general observation rather than just for Tiger supporters, but I'm probably getting myself confused now! Cheers.

Nah, I actually thought it was an entertaining brand of footy even for a neutral supporter.

As a contrast I thought the game between Carlton and Collingwood the other night was very ugly footy and not particularly entertaining. All the holding, the difficulty in getting free when players are being held without the ball - ugly. When players did get into some space occasionally it was ok, but nowhere near the entertainment of our chaos game which was fun. The whole way we counteracted the abysmal enforcement of holding the man by tapping, soccering etc the ball forward made of a far more entertaining spectacle than the attempts to pick a way through zones all the while trying to find a player who is free and not being held.

I think we are somewhat disagreeing, but more at the margins than anything else!

I find GWS more entertaining at the moment they try and surge forward, what little I have seen of them.

I had to change channels and stop watching Carlton v Collingwood, at one stage it took Carlton more than 5 minutes (slight exaggeration) to get the ball out of their backline. Kicking backwards, sideways, further backwards, further sideways .......the game may have been close, but to a neutral supporter who dislikes both clubs it wasn’t worth watching. The renovation show wasn’t much better.

Think of all the 'Dusty' moments that have been created by allowing easy 20 mtr diagonal kicks.
"STAND" "STAND" "OUTSIDE 5"
