Pick 29: Shai Bolton

Had a foot race in the first half. Could not keep up. I think it's an ankle. I think it's from contact in playing as a tall forward. He got it two weeks or so ago or aggravated it then.

Came out looking very active and free after half time in R9. Did the same in R8. I think he's getting a shot at half time.

This is the moral of the story. A side that is headed for the spoon does not risk its small champion by playing him tall at any stage ever. Ok, in the Grad Final. But not for bull *smile*.

Must not play tall again until a GF.
A very good highlight reel player, Jack, but he’s no champion.

With Taranto and Hopper out Shai must play predominately midfield. Centre bounces is where he is needed, it's not rocket science.

Lots of excuses on here
I see Nick Vlaustin and Daniel Rioli play sore most weeks
Both “ show up “
Both put their bodies on the line
Both play there guts out
Pity some other don’t jump on board instead , they jump out of the way
If you haven’t gathered
I am filthy for where we are at
Poor list management over past 2 years
No vision
And now we have poor coaching
Actually terrible coaching
Zero forward pressure
Zero keeping ball inside F50
Opposition teams must love playing against us
There is a reason we are 2nd last !!!

I've started to warm to Carter's pov just a tad.
He aint no Vlas Bakes or Danny in the suck it up and play dept.

At a time where we need to ad elite talent not lose it Bolton is a very intresting elite player , fact he’s probably the last type of “ elite “ talent we need , however he’s pretty much our only genuine match winning , crowd pulling player .

Bolton is the type of player that clubs in the top 4 know if he is on their list they win the flag , he simply is that good when surrounded by a gun team .

Shai has an always will go missing for large parts of the game , he also like arguably our greatest ever player dosent ad a lot defensively, is that the type of player we “ should” rebuild around ? Maybe , maybe not , it would take one hell of an offer to give up Bolton , however if we could gain an elite genuine midfielder or Key position player I’d answer the phone in saying that I think Harley Reid is about the only deal I’d do .

Passionfruit icing n strawberries on top. Definitely not the steak, chips n a couple of veggies on the side. Contract situation aside the question rises again as to whether we need a highlights reel player over the next few years or not?

We don’t need a senior player abusing younger players. Terrible look at one of the breaks having a go at Campbell.

End of the day he’d be top 3 in our B & F yet we say he’s not at his best , plus am I right saying his only on around 700k a year ?

Also a pro player should know when to change his boots.
He spent so much time on the ground he can name most of the blades of grass he visited.
Not good enough to be falling over that much.

Shai looks as flat as a pancake. Started the year brilliantly but just looks like he is going through the motions atm. No impact until half time. Then ended up one of our better players but we really need him standing up now as a snr player.

Hope I’m wrong but I’ve been saying for a while now it’s not in his DNA to be “the man” in a lower table side.

He’s a jewel you slot into a gold crown.

That’s why he screams trade bait to me. He’s wasted with us but represents immense value on the trade table and can buy us a future.

100%

Just ain’t built to be that “pillar” player in a bad team.

So what do you do?

You sell, of course.

He was poor in the first half but the clear indication from what Yze said was that he was actually disappointed in himself and the way he reacted to Campbell.

I thought he was our best after halftime. I was at the ground and he was clearly trying very hard after the break, he was working very hard off the ball and was the only player who looked likely at the centre bounces.

I suspect he got a rocket and to me he reacted the way we should expect.

Just love him but I don’t agree ! Was at the game , much of the 2nd half sat at FF , refused to chase , no where near the action, was arguing with Balta , was very poor look generally. 1.1million per year and he was sooking , don’t agree with Yze comments

Shai is everything the Dockers could ask for.

If Freo were fair dinkum the yd be coming hard for both Shai and Bakes.

They might go doe Baker first this season then have a crack at Shai next year especially if the Tigers are in the horrors again it might make it easier for them to turn his head, and they won't lose those 3 first rounders they've currently got.

Now is the time for them to make such a bold move.

I'd much rather see Shau and Liam in Tigers guernseys next year,

If Liam goes we bleed them for him.

You must have been at a different game, went to a lot of centre bounces in the 2nd half and had 15 possessions and kicked 2.1 post halftime.
